My sister and I love Grandin Road! Especially their holiday items. I really love the retro holiday look from Cyndi Lauper this year and did buy the white ceramic tree.
The little pink holly wool pillow was sold out super quick but heres my quick version to make in felt with a super simple raw edge.
Here is your pattern. holly_pillow
I used a light fusible web product traced my pattern on the paper side, loosely cut around it and fused to the wrong side of my felt (or if you want you could use cotton)
Cut my shapes out on the pencil lines and then fused to a square of pink felt about 10″ square. I did make a marking line in pink chalk about 8″ square to help me visualize placement of the shapes. I did a hand embroidery blanket stitch around all shapes.
When I was done I marked a yellow chalk line in a square. maybe 81/2″. This is your sewing line. Remember this is a raw edge pillow because of the felt, no raveling!
For the back I cut 2 pieces approx 10″ x 6″. In the center I sewed some pink velcro for a closure,
Then flip this over, lay your holly piece, wrong sides together, pin and sew with small stitch around your marked line.
After your done sewing wash your lines away and lay to dry, When everything was dried I quickly heat it with the iron to make it look fresh again and then I used a crimping blade in my rotary cutter. Use your ruler 1/2″ away from your sewn line all the way around. I made a quick pillow form and your done!
Hope you enjoy! Happy Holidays! Colleen
